Awash in ATMs

bank_branchesHas the Bank-Branch Frenzy Peaked?

Well, here’s hoping anyhow. I’m all for the convenience of having my bank within walking distance but I’d like to have other things within walking distance as well. Lately it seems that everything but Starbucks (and an occasional Gap) has been pushed out in favor of yet another Chase, Bank of America, or North Fork. Enough already! Manhattan is awash with these things. If you must open more branches – do it in Queens, Brooklyn or the Bronx where they probably need more. According the the city council report mentioned in the article you will find a bank branch for every 80.4 people in the Wall Street area while the Tremont section of the Bronx has only one branch for every 69,048 people. Hmmmm. . . .
