Curtain Going Up!

The League of American Theatres and Producers and The Times Square Alliance kicks off the 2007 theater season with the the 16th annual Broadway on Broadway on Sunday, September 16 at 11:30am in Times Square.

Sadly, I will not be able to attend but I have kicked off the season in my own way by scoring a ticket to see The Roundabout’s new production Pygmalion. I haven’t seen the show in ages and I think I was missing it when I had my Shaw fit last year. I still haven’t fully forgiven myself for going to Heartbreak House. It has never been one of my favorites and I don’t know what I was expecting.

Well, I was expecting it to be better and certainly not as looooooooooong. But that wasn’t the casts fault. It was George Bernard Shaw’s. Though the cast was pretty spotty and a string of “clever moments” is not enough to sustain something of that magnitude. I’ve forgiven Laila Robins though because I just saw her as Titania in the latest Shakespeare in the Park’s Midsummer Night’s Dream and she was fabulous!
