Happy National Pie Day, Gotham!

pie.jpg If you happen to find yourself in New York on National Pie Day (which happens to be today - and may you and yours enjoy!), you are in luck. After all, Gotham is home to places like Bubby’s Pie Company and the Little Pie Company. The New York Times maintains a robust and informative pie archive of pie recipes, pie related articles and some mouthwatering pie pictures

I see no reason to not enhance any meal with pie but some folks see them as a holiday thing. New York Magazine has spared no effort or taste bud to compare and compile a list of New York’s Nine Best Thanksgiving Pies and citysearch stuck to the same theme, only narrowing the list down to 5 to Try. Ed Levine’s New York Eats also focused on the Thanksgiving angle in his 2007 best pies collection but but you know, pies are rather a thing over there and in 2006 he went broader and offered us tips on the best pies and pie makers in New York.

So whether you dine out or in, make it yourself or pick it up on the way - grab a circle of round, crusty goodness and celebrate National Pie Day the way it was meant to be celebrated. One slice at a time.
